Plain and simple, we’re Black Hoodie Rap. We’re a duo that takes everything we love about hip-hop’s grit and mix it up with some of the best music genres there ever were. We just want to make good music, and we hope the people around us enjoy it. We’ll mess with any sound until we can make a track out of it. No gimmicks here. Just straight, real sounding, hard-hittin’ tracks.
We released our first project October 27, 2009, titled For Rent. It’s 15 tracks that showcase what we’ve been brewin’ since we first got together. The project was released digitally, for free, because that’s what you do now, right?
Our sound is all about taking the energy and grit of two of our favorite genres of the past and meshing it with the music of our lives: hip-hop (ohhh how sweet does that sound?). We’re talkin’ about 60’s blues rock and 80’s punk and metal of course. But they always say you should be true to yourself, and that’s what we are. Try and describe our sound, we’re told people have trouble doing it.

The two of us split our time between New York City and Boston. Brandon Dottin is on the vocals, and I (Mark DiSalvo) handle the production and instrumental side. We’re a couple of 21 year old’s trying to make music with grit and energy to it again.
